Setting up your 3d Print Kreisel.
PAGE IS STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION! INFORMATION IS ACCURATE AND IMAGES AND VIDEOS WILL BE ADDED SHORTLY!
Step 1. Identify, and make sure you have all required parts.
What is included with the Kreisel?
- The kreisel body
- The mesh filters
- The spray bar
What you will need to supply to use the Kriesel.
REQUIRED
- 4/6mm (inner/outer diameter) aquarium air hose. Approximately 1.5m
- aquarium pump – minimum 500l/hour. The pump needs to have an outlet that is suitable for 13mm hose. 13mm (inner diameter) hose is most common for aussie garden hoses and home irrigation.
- 13mm hose. approximately 50cm.
- 13mm irrigation valve – used to adjust the flow of the kreisel.
- aquarium heater
OPTIONAL
- Bio Media, Bio Balls, Bio Noodles, Bakki Rods
- Protein Skimmer
- Auto Top Off
- Dosing Pump
- Auto Feeder
- Artemia Hatchery.
Step 2. How to assemble the kreisel.
A. Install the hose gasket.
Start by placing air hose into the channels on either end of the kreisel. Leave approximately 5cm either end extra hose and cut to size.
B. Lubricate the tank
Spray the tank with water to make it easier to insert the Kreisel into the tank.
C. Install the Kriesel
Slide the kreisel down into the tank, assuring that the hose stays inside the channel. Once you have it started the hose won’t come out, but when starting be extra careful.
Mark your water level on the glass with an indelible marker. I used a POSCA marker, and I added some chalk marker over top to make it easier for you to see in the photo, as the marker is hard to see in the photo.

D. Assemble the spray bar and Install it with the gate valve and pump.
- Insert the pump into the tank, and connect the 13mm hose.
- Cut the hose above the required water line, insert the valve.
- Use the remaining hose to connect to the valve, and then onto the spray bar. You may need to cut the hose again to make it the right size. You want to leave a little extra hose, as you may need to move the angle of the spray bar. V1 spray bars will move without the extra hose, V2 spray bars will require a little extra hose, and maybe a couple of elbows. V2 is still in the works. If you have a 24/25 season Kreisel, you will have V1. V2 should be released for the 25/26 season.
Step 3. Wet run.
Besides testing and making yourself comfortable, a wet run is necessary to prepare the Kriesel for service. During the manufacturing process, small pieces of plastic that are not visible to the naked eye may be attached to your kreisel. I make every effort possible to remove all extraneous matter, but I cannot remove it all, hence the wet run.
A. Add Water
Fill your tank up to the recommended water line (pictured below). No need to dechlorinate or add salt, tap water is fine. Not hot though.
B. Connect the pump to power.
C. Allow the kreisel to run for 24 hours. 12 hours may work too.
D. Remove all water, and any extraneous matter that has accumulated.
Congratulations! Your Kriesel is now ready to be prepared for Zoea!
