Hermit Crab Welfare
We are committed to hermit crab welfare above all else. We work hard to provide products not found elsewhere and invest time, effort, and care into creating items that are genuinely beneficial for your hermit crabs.
In-House Design & Development
Our 3D printed crab products are designed and made entirely in-house. Wherever possible, we use Australian-made consumables or purchase through Australian-owned and operated suppliers.
Some consumables are not manufactured domestically; in these cases, we source through Australian suppliers whenever possible. Occasionally, sourcing within Australia is not possible, but we always prioritise local supply chains first.
Locally Sourced
We are committed to supporting local farmers and businesses. Wherever possible, we purchase directly from farmers, local greengrocers, markets, and suppliers. Supporting local agriculture is essential, especially for farmers doing it tough.
Some of our foods and products are grown and dispatched within 5km of us. When we say local, we mean it.
Ethical, Local Protein Sources
Our beef and tallow are grown locally, within 5km of where they are dispatched, butchered, and prepared for use. We use pasture-raised, hormone-free beef that is genuinely nutritious and responsibly sourced.
High-Quality Food Processing & Waste Reduction
We process our foods to the highest quality standards. At the same time, we actively work to reduce the human food waste stream by purchasing misshapen or visually imperfect produce that would otherwise go to waste.
All produce is selected to be as fresh as possible, with no spoilage and no compromise on quality — 100% fit for purpose and nutritionally sound.
Handmade Ceramics
All ceramics are handmade in-house. We use South Australian clay wherever possible and produce our own food-safe glazes. We also purchase Australian-made glazes when available.
Some glazes are not produced domestically; when this occurs, we source them through Australian distributors.
Environmental Responsibility
We actively work to reduce our environmental footprint. We aim to use as little plastic as possible and choose compostable packaging wherever feasible. To reduce waste, we also re-use boxes and suitable shipping materials whenever possible.
Our operations are supported by a robust solar and battery system, helping to offset our energy use and reduce carbon emissions wherever possible.
100% Australian Owned and Operated
We are proudly Australian owned and operated — just like our Coenobita variabilis crabs. Being rural gives us the advantage of working close to where food is grown, with much of our produce sourced from outside Adelaide.
